In a recent Los Angeles Times article, Astrid Kayembe captures the vibrancy of the historic South Central Avenue, which was once known as a thriving hub for Black Angelenos. She describes 13 sites that together created the epicenter of Black life in Los Angeles. Though many of the buildings are no longer standing, they left an important legacy.
