Goldhirsh Foundation

About

The Goldhirsh Foundation seeks to connect the dots between the best emerging social innovators and the financial, social, and human capital they need to succeed. It identifies gaps and then supports those on the first line of response. If holes remain, it incubates solutions. Through its work, the foundation builds networks to ensure that the strongest ideas have the best support systems. It provides three types of capital to create networks for innovators: financial capital, social capital, and human capital.

Though the Goldhirsh Foundation has been making grans for a decade, it relaunched in Los Angeles in 2012 since most of its grant-making occurs here. The Foundation is now conducting its philanthropy through the "My LA 2050 Challenge." The Challenge looks at the health of the region through eight indicators: eduation, income and employment housing, public safety, health, environmental quality, social connectedness, and cultural vitality.
