Los Angeles Magazine

About

Los Angeles Magazine is featuring a series on "Giving Back," interviews about philanthropy in Los Angeles. Authored by Gabriel Kahn, USC Professor of Journalism and veteran reporter, the interviews provide insight into what motivates some of Southern California's leading philanthropists as well as the innovative strategies they are employing to make the world a better place. As of July, the magazine has featured Ben Goldhirsh, the founder of GOOD Worldwide, and Patrick Soon-Shiong, physician, inventor, and investor.

Among the perhaps surprising facts reported in Kahn's interview with Dr. Soon-Shiong: "Los Angeles has a rep for having tremendous riches and a paucity of rich people who give. But in fact, the city ranks second nationally in terms of phlanthropic giving." Los Angeles Magazine's series may be an eye opener.
