Through its daylong events in various parts of greater Los Angeles, CicLAvia promotes public health, increases available public space, enhances community ties, stimulates economic development, and encourages the use of non-motorized forms of transportation and recreation. Since its inception, CicLAvias have explored South of LA, Echo Park/Downtown/Boyle Heights, Wilshire Boulevard and much more.
CicLAvia makes the streets safe for people to walk, skate, play and ride a bike.
In Los Angeles, we need CicLAvia more than ever. Our streets are congested with traffic, our air is polluted with toxic fumes, and our children suffer from obesity and other health conditions caused by a scarcity of public space and safe, healthy transportation options. CicLAvia creates a temporary park for free, simply by removing cars from city streets. It creates a network of connections among our neighborhoods and businesses and parks with corridors filled with fun.
CicLAvia is a partnership of the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, his staff, the City Council and private funders.
