Food Centricity

About

Food Centricity™ is a business accelerator focused on breaking market, business and financial barriers for early and growth stage food companies. It connects and streamlines all necessary resources to launch, groom and grow food businesses in Southern California and beyond.

In 2014, Food Centricity™ and Civic Enterprise Development co-founded L.A. Prep, which will provide commercial kitchens for small food businesses in a 36,000 warehouse in Lincoln Heights. L.A. Prep will help grow self-made businesses, provide infrastructure and help get products to market.

In addition, L.A. Prep will be home to the L.A. Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that tackles both food waste and unemployment. Founded by activist Robert Egger, L.A. Kitchen will work with local farmers and produce wholesale companies to collect fruits and vegetables that are unsalable because of cosmetic issues or lack of commercial demand. Recovered and purchased food will be used to prepare healthful meals for seniors, after-school programs and drug treatment and homeless centers.

The facility is scheduled to open in 2015.
