Chrysalis

Watch how Chrysalis provides a hand up rather than a hand out.
About

Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment.

Chrysalis' philosophy is that a steady job is the single most important step in a person's transition out of poverty and onto a pathway to long-term self-sufficiency. Offering a hand up, rather than a hand out, Chrysalis empowers its clients to complete a self-directed job search.

Since 1991, Chrysalis Enterprises has provided transitional jobs for its clients with the greatest barriers to employment. By providing valuable work experience, Chrysalis Enterprises helps clients gain the necessary skills needed to re-enter the job market.

Chrysalis offers numerous volunteer opportunities. For instance, Client Services Volunteers play an integral role in empowering clients to build specific skills related to the job search process and instilling the self-esteem needed for clients to succeed beyond the interview. Special Project Volunteers work on specific events and perform particular needs. To learn more about the range of volunteer opportunities, see changelives.org/volunteer.

Chrysalis hosts a number of events throughout the year that are critical to its fundraising efforts and also provide an opportunity for supporters who share a passion for its cause to come together and celebrate its successes and those of its clients. Among these events are the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball and Chrysalis in Autumn.
